Contract Duration: 6 months.

Child Safeguarding: Level 3 – the post holder’s obligations may entail regular contact with or access to children or young people.

JOB SUMMARY

• The MEAL Coordinator will supervise the role holder, who will also serve as the primary point of contact for Resilience.

• The MEAL Officer at the Bale Field Office oversees project monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities, with technical support from program managers/coordinators.

• The role entails monitoring project progress, providing timely and accurate information to program managers/coordinators/officers, maintaining the project database, documenting best practices, and assisting with report preparation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• The role entails directing and helping the Field Office Project team in monitoring program implementation across target areas.

• Captures and maintains program data in the project database, including surveys, assessments, and operations research.

• Assists the Field Office Project team in their implementation region with understanding and using the database, tools, and formats for project data. Provides constructive feedback on data quality to ensure accuracy.

• Reviews project team data for completeness, correctness, and timeliness, providing feedback to improve quality.

• Maintains and backs up the Projects database on a regular basis.

• Regularly conducts field visits with the Projects team and Coordinators to ensure timely and high-quality project deliverables.

• Generate frequent database reports on chosen indicators. Analyzes data for specific indications to aid in field-level decision making.

• Provide timely information and reports on agreed-upon metrics to guide project implementation.

• Organizes case studies and lessons from field staff for periodic reports.

• Organizes and stores project-related documents and information in a separate folder with backups.

• Collaborate with Program Managers and Field Level Coordinators to enhance field-based staff’s ability to analyze and use data for informed decisions.

• Help develop and review training materials, job aids, questionnaires, and communication items as needed.

• Assist MEAL coordinator and program manager in creating project status reports for management, sponsors, and partners.

• Monitor Quality Benchmarks (QBMs) quarterly.

• Implement accountability and information sharing methods to deliver timely and relevant project updates to children and communities.

• Create a multi-entry complaint/feedback response system (CFRM), gather feedback on a regular basis, enter it into the database, and report it to management for action.

• Project complaints and feedback are tracked.

• Complete any other tasks assigned by the unit head or supervisor.

• Supporting government and donor reports.

• Assist in writing government project agreements and memorandums of understanding.

Reporting requirement

• \tProvide accurate and timely FO MEAL reports to the Field Office MEAL Coordinator and Program personnel as needed, detailing all MEAL activities.

• As allocated by the immediate supervisor, participate in M&E meetings and working groups for the projects.

• Complete any additional responsibilities specified by supervisor or delegated person.

• Minimum of 2 years of expertise in MEAL, particularly in an INGO setting, with extensive field operations experience in development and emergency programs.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in MEAL, statistics, Development Studies, or similar subjects.

• Understanding important institutional donors’ compliance needs with the MEAL system.

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, including influencing, negotiating, and coaching.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze difficult issues, define solutions, and ensure quality and responsibility.

• Demonstrates commitment to Save the Children’s values.

• Willingness to adjust work methods and hours during emergencies, including short-term and extended travel.

• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to create filing systems and manage information efficiently.

• Demonstrates proficiency in analyzing and interpreting data using current tools and databases.

• Proficient in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desirable

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer abilities, particularly in Microsoft Office.

• Fluency in local language is preferred.
