Regarding the Red Cross Society of Ethiopia

One of Ethiopia’s oldest and biggest humanitarian organizations, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was founded in 1935. In addition to other humanitarian services, ERCS offers emergency response, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential medications, water and sanitation, and other services to communities impacted by man-made and natural disasters. Additionally, ERCS offers disaster risk reduction initiatives with the goal of building resilient families and communities. The ERCS currently has 12 Regional Offices, 34 Zonal Branches, 131 District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committees, and 5871 Kebele Red Cross Committees as part of its organizational structure.

In order to build resilient households and communities, ERCS also manages disaster risk reduction initiatives that include food security, livelihood diversification, climate change adaptation, and institutional capacity building interventions. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Ethiopian government, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), collaborating National Societies, volunteers, members, and the communities we serve are all partners in ERCS’s work.

Information about the open position

  • Unit of Work:- Communication and Humanitarian Diplomacy Service
  • Answers to: Director, Communication and Humanitarian Diplomacy Service
  • Conditions of employment: – One-year contract
  • Pay: In accordance with the organization’s pay scale

Principal Duty

Conceptualize, storyboard, and carry out video projects from beginning to end. Edit uncut footage into an engaging and aesthetically pleasing video that supports the goals of the organization.

  • Produce visually appealing video content, animations, and motion graphic designs.

Create visual designs and layouts for print and digital materials, including newsletters, posters, banners, and brochures. Work in tandem with the communication team to generate original ideas and approaches for visual content.

  • Make sure the branding and messaging are the same in all of the visual materials.
  • Remain current with industry developments and best practices in motion graphics, graphics design, and video editing.
  • Handle several projects at once and fulfill deadlines in a hectic setting.

Concerning Your Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in film production, graphics design, multimedia, or a similar field; minimum of four years of verifiable work experience in motion graphics, graphics design, and video editing. Ideally in a charitable or non-profit institution.

Additional abilities

Strong skills in motion graphics and animation using programs like Adobe After Effects. Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or any other skill.

  • Excellent knowledge of composition, typography, and visual storytelling.
  • Proficiency with graphics design software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Possibility of working both individually and collaboratively, as well as willingness to take initiative

Graphic design, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), graphic design, and graphic user interfaces (GUI) are required skills.
