Currently, six IDP camps in Shire, Tigray—BGI, Preparatory, Five Angels, Recreation Center, Guna, and Mai Dimu—are home to the Samaritan’s Purse (SP) WASH Program. In IDP camps, the project aims to support basic sanitation and hygiene services as well as supply clean water. By expanding pipelines from the main water pipeline in Shire to the camps, Samaritan’s Purse Ethiopia (SPE) will provide clean water access to three IDP camps. More community responsibility for maintaining sanitation and hygiene will be encouraged in the five camps that SP previously assisted by implementing more participatory approaches to sanitation and hygiene support. Along with this, desludging services and infrastructure upkeep related to sanitation will be provided.
